Transformers

Their war. Our world.
I went to the movies with my kids yesterday to see Transformers.
In 1984, the Transformers brand took the world by storm with its compelling saga of the Robots in Disguise, and quickly became a childhood rite of passage with a tremendously successful toy line from Hasbro and Takara, comic book series, television program and animated feature film. The legendary characters, such as Optimus Prime (the good guy) and Megatron (the bad guy) that truly are "more than meets the eye". I still remember the jingle for the commercials, "Transformers...more than meets the eye"
I really liked the movie and luckily for me I got the inspiration I sincerely needed to write my next Prism article which was 4 weeks late! My editor is a doll with her patience! Here is a snippet:
Leave it to a mother to find meaning in the recently released movie, Transformers but find meaning I did and perhaps even a few convictions. In the movie, there are two types of robots one with the mission to protect and the other whose goal is to destroy. The plot revolves around a war that re-erupts on Earth between these two robotic clans, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, leaving the fate of mankind hanging in the balance. The movie opens with Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots stating: “Before time began, there was... the cube. We know not where it comes from, only that it holds the power to create worlds and fill them... with life. That is how our race was born. For a time we had lived in harmony, but like all great power, some wanted it for good... and the other for evil.” Being the thinker that I am, I interpreted this as the war we find ourselves in one that began in the garden of Eden and continues today in that of transforming culture where Christian truth confronts post-Christian America.
Read the entire article when it comes out next month here. Overall I loved the movie and its great movie to see today! Go catch it. For some, it will bring back memories.
